Experience
- Engineer on an Amazon Connect contact centre platform, designing, building, and maintaining complex IVR flows and omnichannel (voice and chat) experiences — configuring contact routing, Lex integrations, Lambda (Python) functions, and third-party tool integrations while tracing Contact Trace Records (CTRs) to investigate and resolve production issues.
- Configure and integrate AWS services — including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, EC2, CloudWatch, Athena, EventBridge, and IAM — to support seamless Amazon Connect operations, alongside managing integrations with CRM, WFM, and analytics platforms to ensure end-to-end contact centre performance.
- Delivered RPA solutions automating agent login flows and real-time PII synchronisation between telephony and internal systems, reducing repetitive manual effort for call centre agents at scale across daily operations.
- Own end-to-end incident management — performing root cause analysis across cloud and on-prem platforms, driving fixes through testing, and managing stakeholder and user communications throughout; active contributor to disaster recovery planning and critical incident response calls.
- Serve as enterprise Application Owner for a business-wide automation platform, overseeing onboarding, training, licensing, and deployments; recognised as Subject Matter Expert for Microsoft Power Automate, consulted by cross-functional teams on integrations, rollout plans, and troubleshooting.
- Contribute across CI/CD pipelines and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), with hands-on involvement in Salesforce, MuleSoft, and ServiceNow releases, migrations, and cloud cost optimisation initiatives — frequently extending beyond direct team scope to unblock delivery.
- Active member of the Security Champions programme and Digital Automation Team, driving security awareness across the infrastructure team and volunteering engineering capacity for business-wide automation initiatives; mentored an infrastructure intern and represented Unum at school outreach events promoting technology careers.
- Led end-to-end client projects combining design delivery with technical documentation and stakeholder presentations.
- Managed company IT systems (servers, workstations, networking, storage) and served as Data Protection Officer.
- Oversaw GDPR compliance, incident resolution, and data protection policy drafting.
- Developed and maintained client websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Assisted with system administration tasks (IIS, MySQL) and issue troubleshooting.
Things I've Built
Personal projects where I explore new stacks, solve interesting problems, and build things from scratch.

About
I'm a Co. Carlow-based Infrastructure Engineer with a background spanning cloud architecture, security, and automation — shaped by years working across enterprise AWS environments and a First Class Honours degree earned while working full-time. My focus is on building infrastructure that's reliable by design: automated where it should be, secured from the ground up, and observable enough to fail gracefully. I'm particularly drawn to the intersection of cloud engineering and security, where getting the architecture right matters as much as writing the code.
Outside of work I stay close to the things that keep me sharp: exploring developments in AI, homelab tinkering, and PC building. I play soccer, pick up the guitar when time allows, and try to get out hiking when Carlow's weather cooperates. Photography has been a long-running interest — there's something in the discipline of framing a shot that maps surprisingly well to how I think about system design.
